In its brief history, social media has become a very influential force to be reckoned with especially by corporations and governments. Loud and opinionated, its voice can evoke a battle cry for or against a brand, product or public figure. It is in such times of condemnation or celebration that the differences in tone and objectivity between the new and traditional media are most apparent. What so far is our record - as communications and PR professionals - for properly addressing the social media world either when managing a crisis or broadcasting an announcement?
