Our goal is to make it effortless for people to showcase their space to an audience of millions of people looking for something specific, special, ordinary or exciting. We are already in more than 8,000 cities and160 countries and we’re looking for someone to spread the word even further.
Who We’re Looking For
At Airbnb, communications is more than just a pitch person. We’re looking for someone that truly embodies the word “relations” by having strong contacts with mainstream, consumer and business media, and has a demonstrated ability to grow and manage a team and agency partner. This person would be responsible for developing and executing strategic and measureable PR programs that are part of an overall global marketing strategy. We are looking for a leader who has experience in developing actionable strategies and executing communications programs for a global consumer brand.
The Responsibilities
The Director of Communications will help to build and execute the overall strategy, programs and targeted regional and national consumer campaigns that will help Airbnb to become the leading community marketplace for unique spaces around the world. The Director of Communications reports to the executive management team, works closely with the Airbnb founders, and is supported by a public relations agency team. The role is to produce proactive public relation campaigns and events that have a positive impact on the perception of Airbnb as a brand and a direct impact on revenue.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years public relations, marketing and/or communication experience with consumer and consumer Internet companies
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or related areas required; advanced degree(s) desirable
- Experience within medium and large organizations; direct management of external resources
- Combination of in-house and agency experience
- Expertise in communications, public relations and marketing
- Measurable results through proactive PR, marketing and communications
- Deep knowledge and connections within the media community
- Excellent leadership qualities and the ability to manage throughout an organization
- Excellent writer and communications skills
- Detail oriented and strong organizational ability
