Media Relations Specialist

Job Description:
The Fisher Vista Marketing Group is seeking a media relations specialist to join our team. This media relations position is a contractor role and has an immediate need for 10 hours per week with a strong potential for growth.
Fisher Vista Marketing Group is the agency services arm of Fisher Vista LLC, a marketing software and services firm focusing exclusively on the human capital and healthcare markets. Through its HRmarketer.com platform, the company has worked with nearly 1,000 human resource and healthcare providers, helping them generate publicity, website traffic, sales leads and improved SEO. www.hrmarketer.com
Key responsibilities include:
· Develop/write and distribute press releases to HR trade publications and business press · Cultivate relationships with key industry press, bloggers and analysts · Brainstorm story ideas, develop pitches, and contribute media relations strategy to client plans · Research and pursue editorial calendar opportunities and respond to incoming media opportunities; monitor Profnet and other journalist query services · Create media briefing documents for interviews and tradeshows/industry events · Draft messages and talking points for clients · Review industry trends and client competitor news to formulate potential story ideas · Track all media outreach and complete weekly and monthly activity reports as required by client
Required skills and experience:
· 5-7 years of media relations experience with demonstrated results in generating media coverage · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to distil complex ideas and research into newsworthy stories and pitches · Ability to manage and execute multiple client projects and competing priorities simultaneously · Sound judgment, persuasive, deadline oriented, flexible enough to adjust as new opportunities arise · Good listening and collaborative skills · Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with the ability to thrive in a empowered, fast-paced environment · Human resource industry experience is a plus but not required · Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or equivalent
